1920s band charts
Authentic 1920s band charts (transcriptions and arrangements for 1920s bands or orchestras)

$10 per chart (unless otherwise noted)

Authentic 1920s band charts (transcriptions and arrangements for 1920s bands or orchestra, if “chart” is an arrangement (a full 1920s band/orchestra sheet music orchestration), it includes all of the parts for all of the instruments.

To clarify, a “chart” is an arrangement (a full 1920s band/orchestra sheet music orchestration), it includes all of the parts for all of the instruments.

The 1920s band charts here are either note-for-note transcriptions from the recordings or original arrangements in the 1920s style. In many cases, even the solos are transcribed. In most cases, the style is from the 1920s and early 1930s. Songs that say “arrangement” are my own arrangements.

Note: The instrumentation of 1920s band charts (also called “1920s orchestra”) is almost always for an 11-piece group. 11-pc groups were pretty much the standard 1920s big band instrumentation for the years 1925-1934). Mostly, the standard was 3 saxes (2 altos + tenor), 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, piano, banjo/guitar, tuba/bass, violin, drums. Some of the charts have vocals or vocal trios (usually one chorus) and can be easily replaced by a solo (or solos) if you don’t have a vocalist. A few of these charts are basically “all” vocal (i.e., beginning to end) and are noted as “vocals.” Scores come with the charts that are in Finale. The earlier “manuscript” charts do not come with scores.

Note: There are also some 1920s band arrangements for 6-piece combo that you might be able to adapt for your 1920s orchestra (see “Combo Charts & Misc.“).

If a chart is a transcription, it should sound very much like the recording. For many of the arrangements and original compositions of mine, I have mp3 recordings. Please ask me for specific titles and I will send them to you.

I also do custom work (transcriptions, arrangements, film scoring, karaoke tracks, etc.). So, please click on ” Custom Work” (above) if interested. Similarly, please check out mikehenebry.com (where I sell my original compositions).
